Tiny Tears.
Bought for me by Mum and Dad when I was about three years old. Loved tremendously. Never had another name, always called Tiny Tears. Played with
all the time. Nana and my Mum knitted her various outfits and I got some shop bought ones given to me as birthday presents too.

She came on many adventures with me and Pippa (Pippa also had one - also never given another name).
Now she has one eye missing. She lives in a bag in a cupboard. Penny never played with her as she wasn't into dolls. Why do I keep her? Because she is precious and brings back many happy memories of my childhood. Maybe one day I will have a granddaughter who may like to play with her!

I love this! I have a doll, too, my Mum dressed for me for Christmas one year and I might bring her out next month :) Those clothes look so lovely..you know how much I love to dress dolls and I can understand how precious Tiny Tears is. Thanks Becky
ReplyDeleteI still have my Tiny Tears and she was never re-christened either! I was never into dolls, but I have kept her because she has a wonderful wardrobe of clothes lovingly knitted by my Gran.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful treasure to have & the clothes, too. Yes, there will probably be a generation soon that will enjoy playing with this treasure. I don't have any dolls, but I have several special stuffed animals (bought & homemade) that I keep on a high shelf in my craft room where I can enjoy the memories while I'm scrapping.
ReplyDeleteI had a doll handed down to me with a handmade wardrobe from a great aunt who had saved it until she had a niece who liked dolls. So I do understand how precious such things can be :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny you should have posted this, for I was contemplating one next month about my doll which I also still have and which also wears clothes knitted by my Mum! I never had a Tiny Tears but remember them well ... She looks great for her age :).

ReplyDeleteA wonderful memory. I'm too old to have had a Tiny Tears but my daughter had twin Teeny Tiny Tears. I sat up til 3am Xmas morning finishing the wardrobe and twin bunk beds for her.They had a set of clothes each and even tiny nappies which were needed as they could be fed and changed. They were thrown out when she went off dolls onto horses, real ones.

ReplyDeleteOh yes, I remember Tiny Tears! I don't think I ever gave mine a different name either, I wonder how many Tiny Tears there are in the world?! Such lovely outfits too.
ReplyDeleteI remember a baby doll I got when I was about 8 or 9 called "Thumbelina". It had a wind up mechanism that made the soft body squirm like a new born. Sadly nothing from the first decade of my life survived our move from Chicago to New York.
ReplyDeleteI remember desperately wanting a Tiny Tears! Goodness they were the height of sophistication weren't they and I can understand why you don't want to part with her. I don't remember any of my friends naming theirs either, I wonder why!
ReplyDeleteI never had a Tiny Tears, although my younger sister did but your story reminded me of how I woke up one morning and for no apparent reason my mum had knitted a new outfit for one of my dolls and had dressed her in it for me to find in the morning.

ReplyDeleteOh she's sweet. Alas, I don't have any dolls from my childhood. And my daughter wasn't into them either. But I've saved the ones she had in hopes a granddaughter would one day enjoy them.

ReplyDeleteHow great that you still have her and all her wonderful clothes. I remember having one but after it getting passed down to my sister when I was deemed to old to have a doll I have no idea what happened to it.
