Every year we like to go as a family to the local theatre in Southend for either the pantomime at the Cliffs Pavilion or the Christmas production that is put on at Palace Theatre.
This year it was the turn of the Palace Theatre to see 'The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus'. In previous years we have seen excellent productions of 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe', 'The Wind in the Willows' and 'A Christmas Carol' to name but a few.
The story is one written by the author of The Wizard of Oz, L.Frank Baum. It has been set to music and although it was very well acted I have to say that the four of us were left a little disappointed. The story was a bit saccharin and took a long time to get going. I think the younger children in the audience really enjoyed it, but we have decided that next year we will go to the pantomime at the Cliffs Pavilion!
Having said all of that, we did have a lovely evening out together. It was lovely to go out as just the four of us - something I don't think will be happening for much longer, especially as Ben has been going out with his girlfriend for 14 months now and seems very happy and settled - it might be five of us next year!

I love the idea of going to a performance at the holidays.
