A four photo layout

I keep going back to Shimelle's 6x4 photo love class whenever I need to include more than 1 photo on a layout! I love all her ideas and used the one for April for this layout, to include 4 photos.
The fourth photo is hidden under the title block:
The journalling is not very clear there, so here it is in more detail:
And here is a close up of the title block:
It makes a change to scrap our photos from the Isle of Wight instead of our USA ones! I have taken so many photos this year and have so much to scrap, but am trying not to let myself panic about it! It really doesn't matter if it takes me ages - there is no time limit when I have to get it done, I am not 'getting behind' - I keep telling myself this and I think it is getting through!

Layouts to share

Here are the other layouts I managed to make for my USA album over the past beautiful weekend.
First off I there is this double page layout using Shimelle's idea for 6x4 photo love for November, which actually incorporates 11 photos. There is the double page and also a 6x4 page protector in the middle. Here is a closer look at the double layout without the insert.
And here are both sides of the insert

I then did a page using some paper I bought in Vegas, which had the Golden Gate Bridge on. I struggled with this for a while because it was so busy before even putting photos on, but I was pleased with the result - have to admit, Hugh helped me with the design on this one!
I then did a layout using one of Shimelle's layouts as an inspiration again - this time from Glitter Girl Adventure 24
The Loris Diner was actually a napkin which I had brought home with me - it wasn't really right on the layout so I scanned it in and then I felt it was perfect, once I had added some red glitter glue to the letters! As you have probably notice, following Shimelle's advice in her recent class, Cover to Cover, I have chosen one main colour for each of my layouts (kraft) to tie everything together and on every page there will be a little camera. This will hopefully give the album some continuity.

The running man

Back on the 1st April Ben ran in the Reading Half Marathon - his first ever marathon of any sort - and came 201st out of about 15,000 entrants! We were so proud of him! We spent the day before the event with him in Reading, shopping and chilling at his flat with him and his best mate Matt. Hugh and I took the pair of them out for a meal in the evening and then we stayed at the Premier Inn - I am not ready to stay with him unti he has a spare bedroom with proper beds, I am not sleeping on a sofa!

On the Sunday we met up with Ben and Matt at the start and saw him set off. The three of us then made our way into the stadium and waited for him to appear - which he did really fast! We were super impressed!

So here is the layout commemorating the event. It is a double page spread which I needed to do to make use of the photos I had. I based it on Shimelle's 6x4 photo love for May, but used one 'photo' to make a pocket to put the route of the map and race info.

The running shoes, medal, 'START' and stopwatch were all on a sticker sheet which I bought for one of my very first layouts, 6 years ago, when I completed the Moonwalk! I've used up all the sheet now - yay!

4x6 Photo Love - the last one

So, here we are in January with December's 4x6 Photo Love which was to scrap 12 photos on one page.
I haven't changed much from Shimelle's idea, and gone with a Year in Review. I went into my files on the computer and chose 12 photos, 1 to represent each month and then journalled on the back.
The layout as it will be seen in the album.
A closer look at some of the photos.
And another showing the journalling on the back of one of the earlier photographs.

And, as usual, I have done a short video showing this layout as it is easier to see in a video!
Thank you so much for looking at my 4x6 photo love layouts over 2011. I am hoping that Shimelle will come up with something as good for 2012!

4x6 Photo Love - November

I hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas and had time to relax and enjoy being with people who matter. I spent Christmas Day at my parents' with Hugh, Ben and Penny. We had a very relaxing and quiet day which was really enjoyable. Boxing Day I was up early to take Penny to work as she had to be in by 8.30am - I then popped into Boots myself and picked up a few bargains. However, I was home by 9.30am and spent the rest of the day putting away presents, doing the washing (I never wash clothes on Christmas Day or my birthday!) and then this afternoon I have got out all my stash and created my pages for November's 4x6 Photo Love.

I have photographed my pages for you and also done a short video at the end, as it is easier to see how this works in a video than just on the pages. It was a great way to document Ben's graduation, although there are still a couple of layouts rattling round in my head that need to be done!

Well, I have just managed to get in with this before the end of December's 4x6 comes out. Hmm, 12 photos for that one, wonder what we will be doing for that!?
And finally, here is the video of my layouts!

October 4x6 Photo Love

Yes, I know that it is nearly the end of November! But I have only just got around to doing October's 4x6 photo love, which was to incorporate 10 photos into your layout - or in this case a double layout. Shimelle actually used a divided page protector, but as I didn't have one of those I did as she suggested and just scrapped my photos onto both sides of the cardstock and embellished on top of the photos as if they were in the page protector. I used 10 of my favourite photos from our trip to London Zoo.

I used one of the entrance tickets as an embellishment and apart from that all the papers and stickers came from a Sarah's Cards kit that I had in my stash. I was quite pleased with the result, but prefer layouts with slightly fewer photos and more embellishments and journalling! However, I am looking forward to the end of the month to seeing how we are going to be incorporating 11 photos for November!

4x6 Photo Love September

9 photos already! How on earth do you get 9 4x6 photos onto one page! Well, Shimelle has come up with another brilliant idea, which I have again used for my Cyprus album.
The idea is to create a pocket on the front of the page using a transparency, put one photo on the front of that and then create two pull out cards with four photos on each of those.

Here is the first card:
Side one
Side two (which you have to turn on its side to look at!)
Second card, side one
Side two

I worked on this most of last weekend, but didn't get around to writing the journalling until yesterday when I was given an unexpected day off! I only work until midday on a Friday anyway, but my boss was very kind and gave me the morning off as we are not too busy at the moment! I spent the morning catching up on some jobs and the afternoon playing at my desk and the computer!

To finish, here is a bit of a wobbly video showing how the whole layout comes together! I think I may have to look at putting the camera onto a tripod if I am going to do more of these little videos!

August 6x4 Photo Love

I am really enjoying taking part in 4x6 Photo Love - or as I keep calling it, 6x4 Photo Love! I really did wonder how we were going to fit 8 6x4 photos onto a layout this month and this is how Shimelle has done it and this is how I have done it:

And here are some 'stills' of the pages, not wobblies!

The first page

The back of the first page

The 12x12 page which is the second/third page
As I said earlier in the week, I used the BoBunny papers which I have fallen in love with - loads more to use with my Cyprus photos! I also used a digital stamp by Little Musings which I saw on Shimelle's blog - the camera. I'd never used a digi stamp before and I have fallen in love! I will definitely be using them again!

Anyway, after a busy Sunday afternoon scrapping I am hoping to do the same again this weekend! I am keeping up to date with LSNED, and will blog again with that soon. I am hoping to do so about every 4 days, although if I keep up the output with layouts it is going to get busy on here lol! Thanks for looking!

4x6 Photo Love - July 2011

Shimelle's layout this month was just perfect to showcase 7 of the photos we took at Lindisfarne in June. I am slowly working my way through these photos! I intend to do one page for each day we were there, to give a flavour of the holiday.

So, you can only see two photos! Yes, and I said it showcased seven. That is because the others are on a concertina fold pull out. The best way to show this is on the video below:

And here is a close up of the journalling:
It just so happened that the only 4x6 journalling card I had was exactly the same as the one Shimelle used!

I am really enjoying this series from Shimelle - next month will be eight photos, how is she going to manage that I wonder?

Take That!

Wow! I had the most fantastic day and evening yesterday.

For our birthdays this year our Mum and Dad bought my sister and me tickets to see 'Take That' at Wembley. Pippa's friend did all the organising and there were 6 of us who went together.

My day started by driving to my sister's house and then my darling brother-in-law took us to the local pub, The Fishery, collecting two more friends on the way. Once he had dropped us off he went and collected the final two and brought them to join us. We spent a pleasant afternoon sitting by the canal, having a light lunch and sipping cooling drinks!
L to R - Lorraine, Marion, Tina, Me, Pippa
We were then collected by a chauffeur and driven to Wembley. He dropped us a 10 minute walk away from the Stadium, so after a quick toilet break in ASDA we made our way there.

Our seats were up high! Not as high as they might have been, but still pretty high!

Fortunately though we had a good view of the screen, as although we could see the stage really well, the band did look like ants!
This was the first concert I have ever been too - pretty sad I know, but that's life! It was absolutely brilliant. The 'Pet Shop Boys' were the support act and they were pretty good, but Take That had to be heard/seen to be believed. From the moment they came on stage until they left we abandoned our seats and stood and danced. Robbie had a solo slot, but to be honest, my favourite songs were the old ones and the ones done by just the four - I am not that keen on the new songs with the five of them, apart from  'The Flood' and 'Eight Letters' which I really like.

After a fantastic day we finally got back to my sister's house at 12.45am and fell into bed. I spent some time with my nieces first thing this morning and then it was back home to do jobs. I then treated myself to some scrapping time this afternoon and made this layout using Shimelle's 4x6 photo love layout for June.
We were lucky to be given a promotional neck tag from Samsung which was basically printed ribbon which as soon as I saw it knew that it would be perfect for scrapping purposes!

Layouts to share

So, a few more layouts to share with you.

First up is the layout I did for Shimelle's 6x4 photo love for April, which was using 4 photos.

As you will see on Shimelle's blog, the fourth photo is actually hidden away under the bottom corner - the flap lifts up to show the photo and journalling. I have cut a slit in the page protector so that the flap can be lifted up when it is in the album.
Lifting the flap up to show the hidden photo and journalling.

A close up of the flap closed.

My last layout to share with you today was done from a sketch, but I cannot remember which one or where from!

I posted this photo of my Mum and Dad a little while ago, but wanted to scrap it and share it with you too. I love how this one has come out - I am really pleased with the distressing I have done on the layout.
Flowers cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die and and the leaves are handcut from the paper.

This is a tab with the journalling on which is hidden behind the photo.

At last ... some layouts to share!

I have managed to do a couple of layouts over the past few weekends, but haven't had time to photograph them. This afternoon, as I now finish work at 12.15pm on a Friday (yay!), I took some photos of my most recent layouts and also managed to complete 3 more!

I won't share all of them on this post - you may get bored lol!

So, to start, here is a layout based on Shimelle's sketch of the week for this week.

I know I have scrapped one of these photos before, but I just love the family photo and couldn't resist using it again - along with the 'getting ready' photo!
A close up of the ribbon and some of the embellishments. I used my Sarah's Card Kit for May to produce this layout.

My other layout to share with you today is from another Shimelle sketch, this time from her 6x4 photo love sketch for May. This month we have to use 5 photos, so this is a double page layout, again using a Sarah's Cards kit.

A closer look at each side of the layout.

Thank you for looking and I will be back to share some more with you soon. Don't forget to come and have a look at my Miniature Monday post on, surprise surprise, Monday!!
