Winter again?

Well, it is so cold and rainy here, it might just as well be! So I spent Saturday closeted in my conservatory scrapping some winter photos!

I was browsing UKScrappers the other day and read a post which led me to Karen Leonards blog and her layout using different punches. I really liked the idea and so adapted it for these photos. I didn't have two papers the same, but they were from the same range and I think the slight difference in colour helps the borders to show up nicely.

This layout (sorry it is a bit bent) was based on one of Shimelle's challenges from her online scrapbooking weekend - challenge number 5, inspiration points. The idea is to use this layout
and take inspiration from it, which I did!

I have finally used some 'snowy' paper up which has sat in my stash for about 3 years! It feels really good!

I also finished up a layout from my night out with the 'scrapbooking girls' earlier in the week and
did another couple of layouts moving into March, which I will share with you later in the week.

I hope you are not getting washed away in all this rain (if you are in the UK!). We had originally planned to wash our conservatory roof this weekend, but that is SO not happening now!

Thank you envelopes

Here are the little 'thank you' envelopes I have cut using my Cricut and the new cart I got, 'Going Places'. I've made these to take to California in June to leave in the hotel rooms for the maid with their 'tip'.

 

Some of the envelopes have 'Thank You' stamped on the outside and some have it stamped onto a card which is inside. The $1 bill (the only one I had in the house!) sticks out, but I still like the idea!

So, has it been snowy where you are? It has been freezing here and last Sunday we woke up to 8" of snow.

I put this photo on Facebook and had people in stitches laughing. I really didn't notice which ruler I had picked up - I definitely didn't notice that I was pointing to Chronic Pain! With Hugh working in the medical field we get a lot of freebies like this from exhibitions.

It looked so pretty, but I hate it! Having said that, I did do this:

His snow angel was a lot better than mine, so I only took a photo of his!

Snow in Essex

and the county grinds to a halt! Yes, we woke up this morning to about 2 inches of snow. I absolutely hate driving in it, but got up as usual, showered, dressed (not in my work suit I admit, but in jeans and a very warm jumper!), had breakfast and then went out to clear the car. As fast as I cleared the snow off, the falling snow was covering it again! Hugh cleared the drive for me and I eventually set off, very, very slowly. The traffic was all going between 7 and 12 mph, which I was quite happy with. However, I went about half a mile and decided that I really did not want to go any further, it was far too risky, the roads were horrid and anyway, travelling at an average of about 10mph meant it would take me at least 2 hours to get to work!

So, I turned around and came home.

And couldn't get the car up the drive! There is only a small bump up, but we always have trouble with it. A quick toot on the horn and Hugh came out and drove it up for me - what a lovely hubbie.

I then had Ben on the phone from Plymouth where he had no snow. He loves snow and is very disappointed not to have any, so I went into the garden for him and took these photos:

Penny came out into the garden with me later and messed about in the snow for a while before walking into town with me so that I could post my Christmas cards.

Well, it is still snowing here and I don't know what the roads will be like tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to get into work - will have to wait and see. Hope it is not too snowy wherever you are.

CSI Snowman

My daft daughter called us out to the garden on Friday night - 'oh no, the snowman has been murdered! CSI have been here already!' she yelled as we stepped out into the backgarden and were greeted with this ...

She had even made 'blood' using a fruit juice drink and drawn around the 'dead' snowman! She is an incredibly inventive person and writes a lot of short stories, novels and fanfics. I don't know of anyone else who would have thought of going out at 9.30pm and making a crime scene with a snowman!

Unfortunately, real murder has since been committed as Hugh stumbled across to the garage on Saturday and managed to kick the head and totally destroyed it! I think I will spend some time this afternoon scrapping the photos - I will try and upload the layout(s) next weekend.
