Chick flying the nest

So, my baby has flown the nest. Very hard to let her go, but I know it is the best thing for her. She was so brave this afternoon when we left her. She has been so nervous - in fact she has been terrified (her own words!). It was lovely to have a phone call from her this evening to say that she had made a friend. Having Aspergers, she finds it extremely difficult to interact with others, but the fact that she is sharing a house with other young people with the same condition has obviously helped. Tomorrow is her first day at college and I am looking forward to hearing from her all about her induction day and what her timetable is like.

Very soon I will have a completely empty nest, as on Saturday Ben returns to uni in Plymouth. We spent a few hours last week helping him to get his studio flat ready for his return on Saturday. It is going to be very strange in our house in a week's time!

I will leave you with a photo of Penny sitting in her new bedroom

Oh, Becky, I remember those days! When Carrie went away to college and we moved her into her dorm she was nervous, but couldn't wait until we left. I cried the entire 2-hour trip home! Like, sobbed my eyes out. That was four years ago, and now she's living in her own house about 15 minutes away! Your Penny will seem so grown up and changed from this experience and that's a good thing. Good luck, "Mom", things will get easier. And good luck to Penny too! xo
