Easter teapots

Deb at Paperturtle posted today about her Easter decorations.

We don't really go in for decorating for Easter here either, usually just a vase of daffodils on the table for the Easter Sunday dinner is as far as we go. But, Deb got me thinking, and in fact we do have another decoration which comes out at Easter and it is this...
Before I got into scrapbooking I was very keen on dolls house modelling. I started with a teashop come dollshouse and then got really into it and started making little scenes. I regularly took the dollshouse magazines and in one of them they mentioned using an old clear teapot to make a scene. As this one had been sitting in the cupboard for a while and wasn't used I decided to have a go.

I made the little girl out of Fimo and dressed her (she isn't the prettiest little girl I have ever seen, but I was pleased with her!). I then embroidered the tablecloth and also made the Simnel cake and the hot cross buns (also out of Fimo). The cards were created on the computer and the egg boxes were a cut out from the magazine. The grass was from Hugh's model railway!
In time I also made room boxes for various members of the family to celebrate special birthdays and I also made a museum with souvenirs of our Australia holiday. I have sold a couple of the dollshouses as I just don't have the room for them, but I still have my original house, the museum and the Tower of Rohan which I made for Ben (based on Lord of the Rings!).

I will have to see if I can find the photos of these and scan them in (before the time of digital camera) and then I will be able to share them with you.

When I had finished this teapot I sent a photo in to the magazine and was lucky enough to be published on their letters page!

That's such a novel idea - I have never seen a scene in a teapot before and I love teapots :0)
You are very talented

Oh my gosh - that is such an awesome idea!!! I could totally see using that as a base for a class if I could find the tea pots at a reasonable price.
Thanks for posting,
Rinda

Oh, wow! How pretty is that? I would LOVE to see photos - I still have all my dollshouse magazines and books on my shelves although my dollshouse has been packed away since we moved house er 5 years ago. I have always loved all things small.
