Clippy!

I don't know if you remember, but back quite a long time ago, if you needed help using Word or Exel on your computer there was a little paperclip that would jump around your screen when you clicked on 'help'.

Well, as you know, Ben has joined Microsoft and just over a week ago there was a large meeting of the recent graduate intake and towards the end of the meeting the senior manager who was leading the meeting asked the graduates to come up with an idea to raise money for charity. He asked them to email him with their ideas and the best idea would win oneof the new Nokia mobile phones running Windows 7.

Never one to miss the opportunity to try and win new 'tech' Ben came up with the idea to make a costume of 'Clippy' which he said he would wear for a week in the office, and go around with a bucket collecting donations. His idea was the winner and so not only did he win the phone (which he was absolutely thrilled about) but he made the costume below and then wore it in work for the week!

Each lunchtime he went to the Microsoft canteen with his bucket to collect donations and by the end of the week he had raised £190, which Microsoft are going to match. All the money raised is going to a local children's charity in Reading. I think his costume is amazing - all made from pipe lagging and duct tape and I am extremely proud of him for raising so much money! However, I am just glad that he doesn't live at home any more as I can see that I would have had a 7ft Clippy living in the house for months otherwise! It can live in his flat now - or in his office :)

I definitely had a love/hate relationship with that paperclip. Can hear it now. Great idea to raise money :0)
