A layout catch up

I've done one layout this weekend, but I've three to share with you from the past couple of weeks.
The first is from Prompt 10 where Shimelle suggests stamping onto patterned paper. I had never thought of doing that before - when I do use my stamps (which is not very often) I always stamp onto plain card. I have rather a lot of stamps which I very rarely use, so it was nice to get them out and have a play. I enjoyed stamping onto the patterned paper, I very much liked the look and it is something I will definitely be doing again.
This made another double page layout for my Cyprus album. It tells of how all the time we were away and I was taking photos with our DSLR, Hugh was snapping photos of me with the compact camera!
The next layout (please excuse the photography, the light is so bad now when I have finished scrapping, but if I don't take the photo I will never get around to blogging) is based on two prompts, Prompt 13 to cut out  a design from patterned paper and raise it on dimensional tape (the bunting in the corner) and actually just one of the sketches which I liked from Prompt 9.
The last layout for this post is based on Prompt 16 where Shimelle suggest we stack  papers cut to almost but not quite the same size! It is a good way to use up paper that has been sitting in your stash for a while that you perhaps don't really like, or don't know how to use as most of it is covered by the next piece of paper. This is the last page in my Cyprus album - yay!
I was really pleased with this page - it used up quite a few bits of red patterned paper that had been hanging around in my RUB's for ages. The title letters were white and I coloured them in with a Promarker as I didn't have any yellow letters that went with the yellow paper.

I have been a bit 'naughty' and bought Shimelle's 'Christmas in a box' kit to do JYC for this year. I was in two minds as to whether or not to do it this year. It will be my 5th year and I was thinking that I haven't got a lot more to record of past Christmas's, but then I decided that I really like doing it, that I like to do it as a daily diary or the present time and so I went for it! I will be joining in with Shimelle's weekend of preparations this weekend to get my album ready, so that in the lead up to Christmas all I have to do is stick the photos in and do the journalling as this is what works best for me. I am also visiting my Mum and Dad this weekend - Mum is cooking my favourite lunch - liver and bacon! What are you up to this weekend?

Ack! I just lost my big long comment! Fed up with blogger! I love liver and bacon too, that was the gist of it!

Love these all, but especially the first one. I also just used those brown foam letters - LOL! It's great how much stuff I'm using during this class.

Looks lovely all layered up. I remember teaching a class where we stamped on patterned paper - the amount of people who told me they'd never thought of that tickled me so you are not alone.

Liver & bacon - I like it but haven't cooked it for years. Usually go for steak and kidney or liver in stuffing. Hmm, I think I'll suggest it next time we do menus.

Glad you're doing the JYC I'm all for people recording their lives no matter what :)

My favorite layout is the first one, too.

I can't deal with liver and bacon, but it's one of my brother's favorites. Did we grow up in the same house? :-)

I think this is my fifth year for JYC, and although I don't try to do a daily page any more, I'm always glad I've captured the fun of the holidays. Every year is just enough different that I'd hate not to capture it. This one will be very different. It's the first year in 31 that neither of our kids will be here.

All of the layouts are great but I especially like the last one :) I have never stamped on a patterned paper. It appears that Shimelle's class has been very worthwhile. Enjoy your liver and bacon, I don't do any type of liver. Have fun with your parents. I am off for a long weekend in the mountains with my girlfriends :)

Wonderful layouts! I've gotten behind with the Pretty Paper Party prompts - I'm reading them each day but will have to find time to scrap in a week or so when things settle down. I like your stacked paper layout, the colors work great on the kraft cardstock.

They all look great. I especially like the last one & it's use of all those patterned papers.
