We woke up to pouring rain on Bank Holiday Monday, as I think the majority of the country did!
We got out our guidebook and looked at all the leaflets that were in the sitting room of the cottage - there was a box full of them in the sitting room! We decided to go to
Brading Roman Villa as we are very interested in all things Roman (as you may remember from our holiday to Northumberland
here, and Cyprus
here!)
Hugh listening to the audio tour - Penny and I decided not to listen to it, but to read all the 'boards' instead.

This one was really well preserved. All of them were undercover - they had been discovered by a farmer called Mr Munns in 1879, who struck a buried mosaic floor while making holes on his land for a sheep pen!

We spent about an hour and half here and then got back into the car and ambled back to the cottage. We spent the rest of the day snuggled in the sitting room, reading books, doing jigsaws and watching our DVD of Whitechapel!

We always head for anything Roman too. Thses mosaics look amazing - definitely one to remember if we are ever in the vicinity!
Such a better way to spend a bank holiday, than in front of the telly. I have a box too of leaflets .... I think I'll have to flick through them
Those mosaics are beautiful. I never realized how much Roman "stuff" there actually is in Britain. Sounds like a nice bank holiday.
