Weekend recap

I'm doing Learn Something New Every Day again this year, although this year I intend to take a photo a day during September using Instagram and I will not follow the prompts exactly, making some days just like a diary entry or something to be thankful for. So, I thought I would share some of the photos I took over the weekend and let you know what we got up to!

My weekend begins on a Friday lunchtime when I finish work at midday. During the summer, whilst she has been on holiday, Penny and I have spent Friday afternoons doing something fun - we have been to the cinema, shopping, out for lunch, and had a picnic, to name but a few! Friday just gone we had been planning a walk and another picnic at the reservoir. However, it rained. So, we fell back to plan B and popped to the supermarket to buy some supplies, then settled in for the afternoon to watch Les Miserables. We had been to the cinema to see it back when it was released, but we love it so much we just had to watch it again! And eat chocolate of course! And a treat of a frappucino - yum!

Saturday saw us doing jobs like cleaning out the chickens, changing the cat litter tray, ironing and washing! It rained on and off, and Penny and I took advantage of a dry spell to walk into town to get a new tin to make toad-in-the-hole in. I always have trouble making it although I love it. It usually sticks like nothing on earth and is burnt on the outside and raw in the middle! However, a new tin and new oven gave me the perfect result! I was so chuffed!
Sunday was back down to Canterbury day. We had my car full of Penny's belongings again, including a trolley for her kitchen. There is not much work surface in the kitchen and this trolley has a tile top to work on and then quite a bit of storage. It came flat packed, so Hugh put it together once we were down. Penny's flat is looking very homely now and she is thrilled with it. Whilst Hugh was having fun (yes, he really does enjoy putting furniture together) Penny and I went for a walk to find her route to uni and to see how long it took. It is just under a mile and took 17 minutes, so now she can plan what time to leave on lecture days.

And that was our weekend! It went by far too quickly, but we had fun just being together AND I managed to spend a couple of hours Saturday afternoon doing some scrapbooking!

I posted an Instagram every day in July, and almost none since then. I'm not sure what my problem is! Looks like a great weekend!

Wait - "cleaning out the chickens"? Do you have chickens? Sounds like you had a great weekend, and I'm very curious about "toad in the hole" - it looks yummy!

Sounds like a good weekend! Did you realize all three photos are either in the kitchen or include food? Maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere . . .something about how relationships revolve around food or something!

I think that LSNED can be done in so many ways. I like your approach.

Yeah for fun weekends, I've got to sit down and do my last two days worth of prompts... I didn't know you had chickens either!

Hmmm, that toad in the hole doesn't look like what John and I think of - maybe Scottish toad in the hole is different than English??? Sounds like a great weekend.
