So
it is the 3rd of January, a brand new year and do I have any
resolutions? Well, no. I don't intend to make resolutions which you can
break and then feel bad about. What I intend to do is have goals. I want
to go out for a walk every day, even if it is only for 10 minutes, to
get some fresh air and exercise. I will use Map My Walk to record each
walk and I started yesterday as I didn't think of this goal until
yesterday!
I have signed up to the GoodReads
book challenge to read 30 books this year, which I should find easy as I
have a voracious appetite for books! The first one I am reading is Wolf
Hall by Hilary Mantel and I also have The Book Thief by Markus Zusak lined up as Penny
has recommended it and the film is out in February. I also have Death in
Cyprus by MM Kaye on order from Amazon as I have recently re-read this series but
didn't have this one!
So are there any other goals?
Well, the most important one, which can't actually be recorded is to
make more time as a family. Hugh and I have booked a weekend to spend in
Reading with Ben and Rachel. We are also spending a weekend with Penny
in Canterbury and have a week booked in a cottage in Wales with Penny,
Ben and Rachel. I want to go over to Hemel more often to see my Mum and
Dad and to visit more with Pippa and her family. I had such a wonderful,
heartwarming Christmas with my family that it has made me realise that
they are more important than anything and I want to enjoy their company
and make the most of every minute with them.
So those are my intentions for the year. Are you making resolutions or goals? Do you find that you stick to them? Let me know!

They're great and positive goals and I'm sure you'll achieve them.
I love your resolution to spend more time with family, Becky! I cut myself some slack this year and didn't really make any new year's resolutions.
All the best to you and yours in 2014!
These sound like great intentions.
Good intentions you have there. I didn't make any specific resolutions but out One Little Word is actually two ~ be more.
A phrase that has a lot of scope, I feel!
Great resolutions/goals, yes, I've set some and will write about them this week - want to finalise and put things onto the calendar first.
No resolutions, but I did set of goal of 50 on Goodreads. I've got 2 in process right now. Good luck with your goal too - the Book Thief is on my list too.
Great goals, Becky! I've really enjoyed the holidays with family as well. I wish Sarah and her family weren't so far away----and they are only half as far now as they were a year ago! I always have a set of intentions. Some years go better than others. I'm looking forward to this year's and hope I can keep up enthusiasm for them.
Oh, I meant to add that I think you'll love The Book Thief. Our book group read it (4 couples), and everyone loved it. I can't wait to see the film.
They are great goals to have and I love that you have plans for lots of family time x
Wishing you every success with these - nurturing our minds and our relationships sound like wonderful aims :).
I've heard fantastic things about both those books. I've chosen a one little word, which I think will lead to some resolutions . . . mostly losing weight/getting fit and cleaning/organizing the house.

Those are great goals Becky. I don't do resolutions because I found they just didn't work for me. I haven't thought of goals yet, guess I should hurry making some.
