I love my Dad!

One of the layouts I got done last week was of my Dad. The photo was taken at my parents' house when we went over for my birthday tea. It is not often you get a good photo of my Dad - when he sees the camera he normally puts on a miserable face! It was really nice to get this one as I think he is really quite photogenic when he doesn't know he is in the frame. We also had some good news this week regarding his health, which was lovely after nearly two years of him being unwell.

I have recently got Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities and so have been having a play with distress inks and things I have never used before! This was one of the things I made, using distress inks, paint and embossing - it was very messy, but loads of fun!
I have also recently acquired the tattered florals die for my Big Shot and mad the flowers on the layout using this with grungepaper. I covered the grungepaper with a page from an old book before cutting out the flowers. I love the grungepaper - it holds the curve of the petals really well.

The base of the flower is a made with a scalloped circle punch then there are two layers of tattered florals and then a gem. Back tomorrow with another layout!

The embellishments you made and used on this page are fabulous, Becky! Blue is my favorite color anyway, but I really love the layered flower with the blue inking. :o)
