A very happy birthday to Penny!

This time 20 years ago I was watching Postman Pat with a 21 month old Ben. The video ended and as I stood up to change it my waters broke! Fortunately Hugh was on his way home from work, so I phoned my Mum to ask her to come and look after Ben and as soon as Hugh returned (of course this was before mobile phones so he didn't know until he got home!) we were off to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital where I gave birth to Penny at 4.05am on the 16th May, all 8lbs and 7ozs of her!

Twenty years later and we have spent the day celebrating with my side of the family. Penny has actually spent the earlier part of the weekend with them in Hemel. This gave me the opportunity to make her a special cake, like I use to do when she and Ben were little.
So, I beat the butter and sugar together.
Sifted in the flour and folded it in.

Spread it into the tin and baked it.
Let it cool.

Cut it and added some Rice Krispies squares.

Iced it and started adding the decorations.

Nearly finished.
For the baker in our house - an oven!

Happy birthday Penny!
