Penny is sitting in the armchair by the window playing on her computer - the tinny music of her game is accompanied by her tapping on the keys. Out in the hall I can hear Ben and Hugh talking. Hugh is painting the walls and Ben (who is home for the weekend) is holding the ladder. They are laughing about the awful film Hugh lent to Ben. It makes me happy to hear them get along together so well. The sun is peaking weakly in through the window. The clouds are low and grey and the sun will soon be setting. Willow and Arwen are both asleep one on the footstool and the other in Hugh's armchair. They are both recovering from their annual inoculation and feeling very sorry for themselves. I am curled up in the corner of the settee. I have been reading a book on my IPad and know that I will soon have to get up and prepare some food for us all. But for now I can return to my book and read the captivating story for another ten minutes at least.
This "Simply a Moment" is inspired by Alexa of Trimming the Sails. There are other February moments here.

it's so good to be able to relax and hear happy sounds around you at the same time
I hope you enjoyed the next ten minutes of a good read! So interesting to read your vivid description of what was around you when you lifted your head - and the happy sounds of people enjoying being with each other! Thank-you so much for linking up and I hope you enjoyed it too.
I could picture it all so vividly especially the poor babies recovering from the vet's cruelty ;)
I love how you build your moment around what your are hearing, and the photographs fill it out. Well done!

I was reading happily and then I glanced at the picture and realised that we have that water mill on the wall above our fire! It has been there for 31 years! I didn't hear a word you said after that.
Lovely writing, I could hear your men laughing, one of my favourite sounds is my men laughing together. I hope you got your extra 10 minutes?
Lovely capture - hope you enjoyed your extra ten minutes. Or convinced someone else to cook ;)
