Simply a moment - May 2014

The room is crowded and stuffy with low lighting. The beat of the music reverberates through my body. Voices rise and fall, talking, singing, laughing. There is an air of expectation. I glance to my right. Penny is gazing at the stage, the anticipation showing in every plane of her face. The heat is starting to get to me and my legs are aching from standing. I think to myself that I am too old to attend a concert where there is standing only. I grab my ticket from my pocket and fan myself. My legs are rebelling and I shuffle from one foot to the other, my feet sticking to the floor where drink has been spilled. The music stops and the lights dim. Voices quieten and all eyes are turned to the stage. Pentatonix walk on and the room fills with cheers, whistles, screams and applause. I glance again at Penny and see her face light up and hear her cheer. My legs no longer ache.
This is the last time I am joining in with Simply a Moment with Alexa as she is letting it go. I am sad as I have enjoyed joining in and reading everyone's 60 seconds, once a month. I may continue to do my own moment once a month ... if I remember!

Meanwhile, do hop on over to Alexa's blog to read her final Simply a Moment and to catch up with everyone else. Thank you Alexa for running this meme for the past 2 years - it has been great fun.

It's strange how a glance at someone you love can change your whole being. Such a lovely moment.

Ah yes, I love that right-before-showtime anticipation and you have described it so well. Love this and hope the concert was awesome!

Hope the concert was wonderful. Oh I remember that "I think I'm too old for this" feeling changing to a 'great music' one.

I really like this :) I haven't taken TSO to any concerts yet, but I suspect my friend felt a bit like this when she agreed to go with me to a Morrissey concert a couple of years ago. She stood at the side and held our coats..

A perfect capture, Becky, of a mother's love in action!

Isn't it amazing how our emotions and mind can conquer our physical being? I was awed by how much I was able to dance at the Beast's wedding reception. My knees had been killing me with all the work leading up to the day. Not a drop of medication (or alcohol) and I felt no pain whatsoever. Love the photo of Penny, you captured the expectation well.

What an exciting moment to capture. I remember my first concert as a teenager - I didn't realize that people would stand the whole time (we had seats!) and some of my friends screamed and cried and "worshipped" the singers. I found a kinda strange, but it's definitely a FUN memory I need to scrap sometime.

I loved reading this, Becky, and I had to laugh to myself a bit because Carrie would tell you that I get a little cranky sometimes, waiting for a show to start. LOVE when it finally does though, and we've been to some really fun concerts together. :o)

A lovely moment, and Miriam gets it just right. Sometimes a glance can change the way I feel about things.
