2014 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt Round Up

As a family we have had such fun completing the hunt this year. Last year was my first time and towards the end Ben and Penny started to get involved. This year they have been involved from the start and with Hugh helping too we managed to get all 21 of the 'finds' without having to resort to the substitutes.

You can see all my finds by clicking on the tab at the top of my page labelled 2014 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt, or by clicking here

But, if you would like a quick look here they are in collage form, with my 3 favourites at the end and the reasons they are my favourites.

And these are my three fave:
Because Ben remembered when he was in the States on business and got someone to take this and then emailed it to me.
Because Penny remembered and took this one especially for me when she was on holiday in Canada.
Because it reminds me of the best birthday outing with my family that I can ever remember having.

So thank you Rinda for making this such a fun hunt. I hope you do,another one next year! Do hop on over to Rinda's blog to see how she interpreted all the subjects and to find links to other scavengers!

2014 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt Linkup

Today I am linking up with Rinda at Gallo Organico and her Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt.

I have not posted any of my finds for July here yet! As I have been taking them I have been sharing them on Instagram, but I decided to do a round up once a month this year with what I have found. So here goes!

4. A group of tourists

7. A rural landscape

9. A bakery

11. A horn

13. A sunrise

14. A parade

16. A sign in a language other than English

18. A water fall
Now, apart from the last one (the waterfall) and the rural landscape (taken from the train on my way to Leeds) all of these were taken on our holiday to Crete. I just love looking out for these finds whilst I am on holiday!

The waterfall one was actually taken by Penny when she went to Canada and to Niagara falls. As we have been finding these as a family I decided to include it - if I find a local one I may substitute, but if not, it will do!

I also like thinking laterally! The 'parade' one I noticed as I was reading the information under the frieze. As soon as I saw the words 'a parade of horses' I said to Hugh that I must take a photo of this for the scavenger hunt! He pointed out the horn one - it was made of stone at the Palace of Knossos. These we saw all over the place as good luck and fertility symbols.

Please do hop on over to Rinda's blog to find all the linkies there and see how other people are interpreting the prompts this year.

As usual, I will be putting these onto my Scavenger Hunt page, which you can find a tab for at the top of the blog.

Last year's photography scavenger hunt and a giveaway!

I completed Rinda's challenge last year and then had to decide what to do with my collection of photos.

I got them printed out and then they sat in a drawer for a couple of months. Then I had the idea to make a mini album and found I had one in my stash! So I started compiling the album one evening when I was scrapping with Wendy and Sue. It then got put back in the drawer!

On Wednesday this week Wendy and Sue came round for a crafty evening again and I got out the album and worked all evening on it. By the end of the evening all I had left to do was the journalling which I completed last night.

Here is a photo showing the finished album. I have not shown all the pages, but you can see the general idea!
Have you done anything with last year's photos? Any plans or ideas for what to do with this year's?

When I found the photos in the drawer, I also found this book.

I've looked through it a few times and scraplifted from it, but I need to declutter so have decided to give it away! It's still in pretty good condition, so if you fancy going into the draw then please leave a comment below (this is an international giveaway). I will pick the winner on Wednesday as I am off up to Leeds on a business trip Monday and Tuesday!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Update

So I have been joining in with Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt and posting my finds on Instagram (if you want to follow me I am BeckyG1 - drop me a request!).

I thought it was time to share on my blog my finds so far. So, here they are:

Number 2 - a garden gnome

Number 3 - birds on a wire

Number 5 - a rack of postcards

Number 8 - a tattoo on a person

Number 17 - a lamp post

Number 19 - a public garden

Number 20 - a bus with a picture painted on the side
I am really enjoying looking out for all the items on the list and seeing how other people are interpreting them, either on their blogs or on Instagram - the hash tag for Instagram is #rindas2014photohunt

Are you joining in this year? What is your favourite find so far? My favourite so far is the painted Harry Potter bus!

Rinda's 2014 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt

Rinda is running her photography scavenger hunt again this year and I WILL be joining in! Will you? I joined in last year and had such fun finding all the items. It became quite a family affair, with Hugh and Penny helping out too. The list this year can be found on her blog here.
I am also posting her list below, for my own benefit as much as anyone elses! I shall be printing this out and laminating it to keep with me so that I know what I am looking out for. Do you think any of them will be difficult for you to find?
 Scavenger Hunt List
1. A sign welcoming people to your home town (or a nearby town)
2. A garden gnome
3. Birds on a wire
4. A group of tourists
5. A rack of post cards
6. An urban street scene
7. A rural landscape
8. A tattoo on a person
9. A bakery
10. A photo bomb (someone found lurking in the background of photo; the lurker may have intended to disrupt the picture or may be doing it unintentionally, but the background lurker is a surprise to the photographer)
11. A horn
12. A mascot
13. A sunrise
14. A parade
15. A juggler
16. A sign in a language other than English
17. A lamp post
18. A water fall
19. A public garden
20. A bus (not a car, truck, lorry, camper or RV) with a picture painted on its sides.
21. A photograph of you with something representing the season (recognizing that the season will be Winter for our friends in the southern hemisphere). Note: you may not use a substitute for this item.
If you find something on the list too difficult, you may substitute one of the following items for anything on the list, except for Item #21:
Alternative A: A kite, hot air balloon or blimp
Alternative B: A bird house.
I think the one I might find difficult is number 10, unless I set it up! However, with Ben around over the summer I think that this might happen - we will have to wait and see. The juggler might also be a bit difficult - I see some trips coming up to try and find these!
If you do join in, do link up with Rinda on her blog. I shall be posting my finds on my blog here and I have also  created a page to collect all my items together, which you will can to access at the top of my blog, as I did last year.
Good hunting!
