Sunday scrapbooking

Well this weekend didn't exactly turn out how we were planning. We went to Slimming World first thing on Saturday and Hugh had got to target which was wonderful! However he then went to the dentist and had an emergency extraction, which has left him feeling a little under the weather for the rest of the weekend. We were supposed to be working on decorating Penny's new bedroom for her, but that hasn't happened! However, it did free up Sunday afternoon for me to do some scrapbooking.

I have recently been watching Nicole Jones on YouTube and love how she manages to 'kill a kit', so I decided to have a go myself and use up some of my earlier Noel Mignon kits which have been sitting on my trolley for a few months now!

I was really pleased to completely use up 1 kit (I just had a few alphas left) and I have nearly used up another. I have decided to move on any embellishments or alphas to the next kit to try and use them up and it seems to be working quite well.

So here are the four layouts I managed to create on Sunday.
These photos were taken earlier in the year and were perfect to go with these papers.
Going through my papers I realised that I had hardly scrapped any of the couple of hundred photos I took when we went to Florence, so I have now made a start!
I just love how happy Brenda is looking in this photo - she really enjoyed her retirement party.
These photos were taken in August last year when we went to Cadbury World for Ben's birthday. Again I took a load of photos and had only scrapped 1 so far! Really need to do a few more!

Well this week we have Penny's graduation, so keep your fingers crossed for it staying dry on Tuesday so I can take lots of photos! Hope you all have a nice week!

First France Pages

I had my monthly crop with Wendy and Sue last week and managed to complete two pages using photos from our holiday in France and the most recent Noel Mignon kit, Pool Party. This kit is just perfect for holiday photos!

I have to admit that I actually set this photo up as I new that there was this cut apart card with the wording on about flip flops!
And when I realised that there was this wonderful puffy sticker 'splash' I had to make sure that we took photos of the three of us 'bombing' into the pool!

I am really looking forward to using more of this kit and to scrapping more holiday photos - when I have time!

Park Life

Just a quick layout to share today of a photo taken last August when Penny, Wendy and I went to Canterbury for the day. I used Shimelle's layout idea from her latest class and a kit from Noel Mignon. Loving that sparkly pink glitter tape.
Hope you have had a nice relaxing weekend. Be back again later in the week with another layout to share.

Five faves for May - the layouts

And so here I am, finally, with my five favourite photos for May scrapped!

This layout has my two favourite photos from Penny's birthday lunch.
This layout details how happy I am that Penny has finally managed to make some really good friends even though she struggles socially because of being on the Autistic Spectrum.
Not the best photo in the world, but I like it and it meant that I was able to use the lolly shaped piece of card which I received in a Noel Mignon kit which had twine wrapped around it. I took off most of the twine, but left one layer and love the effect. Also love the lolly paper and icecream embellishments!
Hugh and me on our wedding anniversary.
And finally, the story of the slow worm. I have taken a close up of the journalling, below, so that you can read the story.
Thanks again Jo for the inspiration to get at least five photos scrapped every month. On to June's now!

Using up some older kits

I haven't had time to do much scrapbooking lately, although yesterday afternoon I got a couple of hours. However, these layouts I made a while ago and haven't got around to sharing.

This layout was made with a Noel Mignon kit and a Shimelle sketch. It's a good way of using up smaller scraps of paper or paper from a 6x6 pad.
When I dug through the kit and found this black and white paper I realised it was perfect for Yvonne's retirement layout as it goes with her top!

Had a bit of an oops moment with the gold mist on the journaling, but as you can still read it I am not too worried!

Using my kits

I recently received an email from Quirky Kits Ideas Blog and just loved the layout which was being shown. You can see the layout here on the blog here.

I had received my latest kit from Noel Mignon and in it was some Distress Ink. I immediately thought of that and how I could use it to scraplift the above layout.

It was only when I had finished the layout and went to put it in my album that I realised I had already scrapped a very similar photo from that walk with almost identical wording! Oh well, I had great fun creating it!
And so I decided to create another page, this time from an earlier kit and using photos I KNEW I hadn't scrapped before from our trip to Wales last year.
I had kept the tickets from the railway journey for just on the year and I was so glad that I managed to find them to put on this layout!
So, after a few weeks of no scrapbooking I am making quite a dent in my stash as I am on HOLIDAY for a week! Really enjoying some time for me and taking it easy.

I forgot to share these!

I thought that I had shared these pages I made back at the beginning of March, but looking back I only shared them on the Noel Mignon Facebook page!

I used her kits to create these and actually scraplifted this layout from .... oh, I can’t remember! If it was you, please let me know in the comments below!

The photo on this page was also taken at Penny’s birthday celebrations at my Mum’s last year. Ben and my Dad get on so well and are always messing around together and this perfectly captures their relationship.

These last photos were taken on our holiday to Wales last year. We really felt as if we were walking in Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings!
I am sorry that the quality of the photos isn’t great. I took them using my phone as I didn’t have my camera handy. At least I have been able to share them though!

Weekend Scrapbooking

After finishing my chores nice and early Saturday morning it meant that I had ALL of Saurday afternoon to play!

I knew that I wanted to create a page for New Years Day 2014 to start that section of my chronological album. I still had a few pieces left from my Cable Knit kit and was very pleased with the layout I came up with. It was based on a Shimelle layout from way back!

I then scrapped the monthly photo which Wendy and I do. I can't share that here just in case she reads my blog as we do a year's worth and then share with each other to see how differently we scrap! Another thing I can't share is the birthday card I then made for my Mum! I will take photos of it though and share after her birthday!

What I can share are two layouts I made at Sue's on Tuesday when she, Wendy and I got together.

Again I used up some more of those Websters Pages papers.

These are from our holiday to Wales last year.

I also completed another three pages on Sunday afternoon, but will share them another day!

I am hopping about scrapping photos from the past 14 months or so, but I then file them chronologically. I may even scrap old family photos from time to time and then these go in their own special album. There has been a lot of discussion recently on Facebook and various blogs on how people scrapbook their photos and it has made fascinating reading! How about you - how do you scrap/store photos?

Love this moment

This is another layout I did at our crafting evening a couple of weeks ago. Again I used the Hey Girl kit, but this time the photo is from our holiday to Crete last July.
When I heard what the kit was called I was worried it would be too 'girly' to scrap male photos, but in fact it is perfect for any photos! I have loads of it left and just need more time to do some scrapping!
The circle with 'love' in it is actually a rub on, as are the two green splodges. I don't usually like rub ons, but these went on well and I like the effect.

Star Struck

I received the new kit from Noel Mignon, Hey Girl, at the end of December and it is gorgeous! I haven't had much time to scrap, what with decorating the lounge, but on Tuesday I had a crafting evening with Wendy and Sue and did this layout.

As soon as I saw this photo Penny had posted on Instagram I knew that I needed to scrap it!

I did a screen capture to get the comments and used that as the journalling - it didn't really need any more journalling apart from the date!

Inspired by Jo!

Jo, over at Buckingham's Palace has decided to print off her five favourite photos from her phone each month and scrap them and has invited us to join her in her venture if we wish. I thought it was a brilliant idea and yesterday, as it was my last day of holiday, spent the afternoon scrapping my five faves from December.

I haven't actually made five layouts this time though, as this layout has two photos on!

This one I had a bit of a disaster with! I was shaking my glimmer mist bottle, only I had already unscrewed the top! I ended up with glimmer mist over me, the desk, the floor and a couple of big blobs on the layout - one I covered with the lace at the bottom, the other with the snowflake!
This is the third layout...

And my final layout ..

For all of these layouts I used my Noel Mignon Cable Knit kit, which I have thoroughly enjoyed using at last! About the only thing I have added is the glimmer mist and some blue alphas in the top layout.

Looking forward to joining in with Jo again next month. Thanks for this great inspiration to get those photos off the phone and onto layouts Jo :)

The Story of the Christmas Lemon

Just a quick post to share a layout I made yesterday with the Noel Mignon Cable Knit kit.
Sorry the quality of the photo isn't great - I took it quickly on my phone this morning before popping out!
And here is the journalling in close up for you.
Well, I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying your break. We are spending more time with family this weekend which will be nice. I am hoping to catch up with my JYC over the next couple of days and share some of that with you. Enjoy your weekend!

A walk in the woods

As I mentioned in a previous post, whilst we had our week off, one of the things we did was go for a walk in Norsey Woods. One of the reasons for the walk was just because we love going for a walk in the woods when the weather is nice. The other reason?

And here is the full layout I did.
Although it doesn't look it, the sun was actually out for some of the time we were walking. However,  it was VERY muddy underfoot as it had been raining a lot, and Penny and I were really pleased that we were wearing our wellies!
I did this double page layout with some of the photos. I liked the idea I saw on a Paperclipping Video of enlarging a photo and then putting the title onto it. I really liked the 'photo' gold rub on and am pleased with how it looks on the photo.
I had picked up a gold Sharpie pen at Lakeland and used that for the journalling.
And I literally spent hours cutting out the leaves from a sheet of paper to make the flurry that runs across the second page.
Have you done any autumn scrapbooking this year?
