Simply a moment - January 2014

I'm joining Alexa over at Trimming the Sails who is hosting the monthly meme - Simply a Moment.

I relax back in my seat and a grin spreads across my face. It is dark outside the window and the light from the dashboard as I press the button to turn on the ignition glows orange into the car. I press the button again and the car starts. The radio comes on and I press the button to change the function to phone to ensure that my phone’s Bluetooth has connected. Seeing that it has I change the function again to CD and the talking book Ben gave me for Christmas, Gone by James Patterson, continues with the story where it left off last night. I fumble for the switch for the lights, still a little unsure of where all my knobs and buttons are, I’ve only had the car for a week! Finding the switch I turn the lights on – I’m looking forward to when my journey to work will be in daylight again. I pull the seatbelt across my body and plug myself in, checking that my handbag is on the floor and that I have deadlocked the doors. All set, into reverse, the screen on the satnav lights up with the video feed from my reversing camera – I giggle to myself, still thrilled with all the gadgets and gizmos my new car has. I reverse out of the drive and begin my journey to work, what has been a chore is now an excitement – for a while anyway!
Do hop on over to Alexa's blog to read her beautifully written post and to see the other moments linked up from around the globe.

Now, I am not one for gizmos and gadgets but you have me converted - your excitement and pleasure is infectious! Long may your enjoyment last - and I do hope you will be heading off in daylight soon! I was delighted to see your moment in the Linky and thank-you so much for joining in this month. Happy motoring!

I have those gadgets in my car too and love each one of them. I'm still wondering how I managed without GPS--well the truth is, not very too much of the time. I like to say that with GPS I don't even have to know where I am because the GPS (I call mine Gypsy) will get me there.

What a great moment to record - so glad you are enjoying your new car. I've had my new Suburban for over a year now, but I still love the reverse camera!

I'm laughing because your photo totally threw me off with the screen on the left of the steering wheel - forgot about y'all driving on the other side of the road! LOL

I'm betting the joy of this new car is going to last quite awhile. My son just got a new car with a video camera that comes on when you put it in reverse. Awesome feature!

What a fun little moment you've shared, Becky. You'll have all those buttons and gadgets memorized in no time, I'm sure. Enjoy your new car, and do drive safely!

(Still so odd for me to see the steering wheel on the right side!) :o)

Don't you just love that backup camera? I'm so used to the pushbutton start on mine that I have to remind myself that i need a key when I go to drive John's car. :)
